Vol. 108 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old I.R.A. Pensions.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will withdraw the regulation whereby persons in receipt of Old I.R.A. pensions have their payments of unemployment assistance reduced because of their being in receipt of such pensions.

Under the provisions of the Unemployment Assistance Acts pensions must be included in the calculation of means for the purposes of those Acts. Legislation for the purpose of amending these provisions is not at present proposed, but the matter will be considered in connection with the examination of social welfare schemes which is at present proceeding.
