Vol. 109 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teachers' Rent Allowance.

asked the Minister for Education if he will consider granting the national teachers of County Dublin the same rent allowance as is paid to teachers in Dublin City.

The new scheme for teachers' salaries and other grants provides that a non-pensionable rent allowance of £40 per annum may be paid where the specified conditions are fulfilled, to teachers whose schools are situated in the County Borough of Dublin and the Borough of Dún Laoghaire. In the case of teachers in County Dublin outside of these areas the amount of the allowance is fixed at £10. I do not propose to make any alteration in the amount of the latter allowance.
