Vol. 109 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Water and Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a water supply and sewerage scheme is urgently required at Milltown, County Kerry; and if he is in a position to state when such a scheme will be provided.

The question of improving the water supply at Milltown was considered by the Kerry Board of Health and Public Assistance when that body was in existence and was deferred indefinitely on grounds of expense. In 1936, the county medical officer of health reported against proceeding with the scheme in advance of schemes of prior urgency. No proposals have since been submitted to my Department.

The provision of a sewerage scheme would be dependent on the introduction of an improved water supply, as the existing supply, while providing ample pure drinking water, would not give sufficient pressure to take a waterborne system of sewerage.
