Vol. 109 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballymore-Eustace Fuel Supply.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that persons in BallymoreEustace, County Kildare, find it extremely difficult to procure turf and timber locally; and whether, in view of this, he will arrange to allocate a supply of coal for domestic use to the area.

I am aware of the difficulties referred to, so far as turf is concerned, and arrangements are being made to have the area supplied with privately-produced turf. I regret that the amount of coal available is not sufficient to enable supplies to be allocated for household purposes in areas where other fuels are not rationed.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, can he say what the arrangements are and when they will become operative?

I am afraid I cannot give you any more information.
