Vol. 109 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Insurance.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the reasons why Denis McEvoy, Ballinree, Muinebeag, was debarred from receiving unemployment insurance.

Mr. McEvoy was in receipt of unemployment benefit up to and including the 3rd October. He has not furnished evidence of unemployment since that date.

Mr. Corish

Is the Minister not aware, or has it not been brought to his notice, that Mr. McEvoy is debarred from drawing unemployment assistance because he refused to work under a contract system?

No, that is not right. Mr. McEvoy was told that there was work available, but if he had refused to work his case would be considered. He did not report any more after that.
