Vol. 109 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Brosna Drainage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state if the drainage of the Little Brosna, from Victoria Lough to Birr via Lusmagh, is included in the Brosna Drainage Scheme prepared under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945; and if he will indicate when this work will commence.

The Brosna Catchment Drainage Scheme prepared under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, does not include any portion of the Little Brosna River.

In view of the importance of the drainage of the Little Brosna would the Parliamentary Secretary undertake to have it included in the scheme?

As the Deputy is well aware, the Little Brosna is quite a different river and a different scheme is involved. That is something we have got to remember.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say whether early consideration will be given to the preparation of the scheme for the drainage of the Little Brosna, in conjunction with the scheme already prepared for the drainage of the main Brosna?

It is obvious that it cannot be considered, without a major scheme.
