Vol. 109 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Unsold Turf in County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that at least 100 ricks of turf in the Listowel area, County Kerry, are still unsold because the local buyers state that they have no orders in hands, or alternatively, that no railway wagons are available for transport; and if he will take this matter up with Fuel Importers, Limited, and with Córas Iompair Éireann, with a view to having this turf disposed of at an early date.

I am aware that, as is usual at this time of the year, there is a surplus of saleable turf in Kerry. I have no reason to doubt, however, that this turf will find a market through the usual channels in due course before the next season's crop is available.
