asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is now in a position to review and consider favourably increasing, by an extra delivery weekly, the delivery of letters and parcels in backward rural areas where the residents, living from three to six miles or more from nearest telephone call and telegraph office, are denied the use of said services except in cases of urgency.

The general revision of rural posts carried out this year provided for an extra day's delivery in all rural areas where the frequency of delivery was restricted to less than six days a week.
The improved services are now in general operation with the exception of a comparatively small number of areas where, by reason of staffing difficulties, further special inquiries are necessary. These will be carried out as expeditiously as possible.
