Vol. 109 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Balbriggan Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when the outflow of the Balbriggan sewerage scheme, which now discharges into the harbour, will be changed: and if he is aware of the urgency of having this done, in view of the pollution caused in the harbour.

The planning of the proposed improvements to the Balbriggan sewerage scheme presented many difficult technical features and on the recommendation of my Department an expert consultant was appointed to advise as to the most suitable design. The location of the new outfall has now been agreed upon and the revised plans which were received in my Department on the 6th instant are being examined. I am not at present in a position to state when work on the scheme will commence.
