Vol. 109 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber from Dollar Countries.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, as a result of the recent discussions with British Ministers, or for any other reason, it will be necessary, in 1948, or in any subsequent year, to curtail the amount of currency which will be made available for the purchase of timber from dollar countries; and if so, whether alternative arrangements will be made to provide for the importation of timber from non-dollar countries.

On present information, it would appear that it will be possible to provide dollars for all the timber which will be available from the dollar countries for import to this country in the next year or so.
