Vol. 109 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lack of Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the village and district of Knockraha, County Cork, has no telephone service; that the postal deliveries in part of the area are very unsatisfactory; and if he will arrange to have a telephone installed in the village and a daily week-day delivery of mails instituted in that district.

A public telephone call office will be installed at Knockraha Post Office as part of the scheme to provide public telephones to all post offices, but it is not possible to state at this stage when the work can be carried out. Consequent on representations already made by Deputies of the area, the possibility of affording increased frequency of delivery is at present under examination and it is hoped that a decision will be reached without material delay.
