Vol. 109 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how many factories, of all kinds, were closed or idle in 1932, in County Dublin; how many new factories have been established since; how many are in course of construction or about to be constructed; the number of employees in 1932; and the number of employees in 1947.

I am not in a position to state how many factories in County Dublin were closed or idle in 1932. The number of new factories established in County Dublin (excluding Dublin Borough) since 1932, and still in production, is 22. These do not include firms engaged in such industries as building and quarrying. Based on the number of current building licences and on information furnished by industrial promoters as to their plans, the number of new factories in course of construction or about to be constructed in County Dublin is approximately 12. In regard to the final part of the Deputy's question, the particulars required are not available.
