Vol. 110 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Adoption of Children.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the widespread demand for legislation in connection with the adoption of children; if he will state what difficulties prevent a solution of this question; and whether he will take steps immediately to have these difficulties resolved and to introduce a measure legalising adoption and providing for all the necessary religious and moral safeguards in connection with the practice.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he will consider the introduction of legislation governing the adoption of children, similar to that which has been passed in Great Britain.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together.

I am aware of the demand for legislation. The matter is now under consideration, and an early decision will be given.
