Vol. 110 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abolition of Death Penalty.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will have consideration given to the advisability of abolishing the death penalty in the penal code.

I have considered this question and at present I do not propose to recommend any alterations in the law.

Has the Minister anything to prove that the abolition of the death penalty would cause any increase in crime?

If the Deputy would put down a question for the Minister for Justice on his return, the Minister, who has given consideration to the matter, may possibly be able to answer the question.
