Vol. 111 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dollars for Commercial Vehicles.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the sterling equivalent of the amount of dollars provided in the years 1946 and 1947 for commercial vehicles.

The statistics kept for exchange control purposes do not distinguish between the amount of dollars made available to the Irish motor assembly trade for the import of motor vehicles used for commercial purposes and the amount of dollars made available for motor vehicles used for other purposes and, accordingly, exact figures of the amount of dollars made available for commercial motor vehicles during the years 1946 and 1947 are not readily available. An estimate, however, expressed in sterling is—1946, £250,000 0s. 0d.; 1947, £850,000 0s. 0d.
