Vol. 111 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Taxation of Motor Hearses.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can now state if he has arrived at a decision in regard to the representations made to him concerning the desirability of altering the present basis of taxation of motor hearses.

The answer to the Deputy's question is "Yes." After considering representations made to me concerning the road tax on certain motor vehicles, including motor hearses, I have decided not to propose any alteration in the present basis of taxation pending review of the general question of motor vehicle duties.

Would the Minister say when the general review is likely to take place?

I could not really answer the Deputy as to that.
