Vol. 111 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the ceiling figure fixed for housing loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts as amended by the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1948, is such as to prevent a number of persons in the Dublin area availing of the loan provisions, and whether for a trial period he is prepared to increase substantially the present figure of £1,750.

Mr. Murphy

I have received representations that the present limit is too low and I am having the matter examined.

Can the Minister indicate when he will be in a position to increase the present figure?

Mr. Murphy

I could not say at the moment, but the Deputy may rest assured that there will be no delay, so far as I am concerned, in getting a decision.
