Vol. 111 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damage to Turf in County Meath.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that great hardship has been caused to turf contractors in County Meath by virtue of the fact that they have been denied payment by the Meath County Council for turf which was damaged by bad weather during the 1946 season, despite the fact that they had fulfilled their contracts with the council; and, if so, whether he will have the matter investigated with a view to remedying any injustice which may have been caused.

No proposal on this matter has been received in my Department from the local authority. I understand, however, that the matter is at present being examined locally.
