Vol. 112 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Resumption of Lands (Meath).

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) whether notices of acquisition or resumption have been served on vested land owners in County Meath since 18th February, 1948, by the Land Commission for its statutory purpose, and if so (b) in how many cases and what is the acreage involved, and (c) the total area it is proposed to acquire prior to 31st March, 1949.

No notices of intention to acquire or resume lands in County Meath have been served by the Land Commission since 18th February, 1948. In the short time since the last Government's restrictions on land acquisition were removed by the present Government, the Land Commission have been engaged on the inquiries and investigations which have to be completed before decisions to institute acquisition or resumption proceedings can be made. As regards part (c) of the question, it is not possible to state what area the Land Commission will be able to acquire in County Meath by the 31st March next.
