Vol. 112 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conroy Estate, Leix.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reasons why the lands of the Conroy estate, Forrest, Mountrath, Leix, have not been divided in view of the fact that it was reported some years ago that a scheme was in course of preparation for the division of these lands amongst the local deserving applicants; and if he will have the matter examined and local claims for the division of this farm sympathetically considered.

The Land Commission have had the question of the acquisition of the Conroy estate at Forrest, Mountrath, under consideration and have decided to take no action towards the acquisition of the lands. There was no scheme for the division of the lands in course of preparation at any time.

In this connection can the Minister indicate on what date that report was received by his Department or when those lands were inspected?

In view of the fact that this report was made in 1937, would the Minister now undertake to have this matter reinvestigated and have a report submitted to him or to the Land Commission at an early date?

I will, certainly.
