Vol. 112 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Fund Disbursements.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total provision made available from the Road Fund and other sources in the financial years 1938-39, 1946-47, 1948-49 for the maintenance and restoration of roads described by him as secondary in his concluding observation on the Department's Estimate.

The amounts made available from the Road Fund for the maintenance and restoration of county roads in the years referred to are nil; £461,682 and £1,100,000 respectively. The last-mentioned sum is provisional. Grants are also made for work on roads (including county roads) from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote each year. It is not possible to state the amount of such grants devoted to county roads.
