asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the amount paid in each county in each of the years 1946 and 1947, and the current year to June 30th in respect of the following classes of pensions: (i) old age; (ii) blind, and (iii) widows' and orphans'.
Written Answers to Questions. - Amounts Paid in Pensions.
Records are not maintained of the amounts actually paid in each county in old age pensions, blind pensions and widows' and orphans' pensions and the material for compiling such records is not available.
A statement has, however, been prepared showing for each county the estimated annual expenditure on old age pensions and blind pensions calculated as 52 times the amount of the pensions and supplements actually payable in those counties on the last pay day in 1946 and 1947.
In the case of widows' and orphans' pensions the amounts shown do not include the cash supplements to the pensions as no information regarding the amounts of these paid in each county is available.
It is not possible at this date to give similar figures for the first half of the year 1948.
The statement below gives the required information, estimated as set out above.
