asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether the Fair Wages Clause, as described in his reply to a question on the 17th November, 1948, has in fact been embodied in the contracts entered into by all Government Departments and, if not, whether he will indicate (a) the Departments which omitted to include the Fair Wages Clause; and (b) the Departments which included the Fair Wages Clause in a modified form.

The Fair Wages Clause in question has been included, with some exceptions, in the contracts entered into by all Departments. The exceptions are laundry contracts made by the Department of Education for the preparatory colleges, contracts made by the Department of Local Government for the production of films and catering contracts made by the Department of External Affairs for occasional official functions. No Department included the clause in a modified form.
