Vol. 113 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prefabricated Houses.

asked the Minister for Local Government what the prospects are of making prefabricated houses available in Dublin City and County as a contribution towards the relief of the housing problem.

Mr. Murphy

I will not be in a position to make a definite statement as to the prospects of providing prefabricated houses until information is available on the results of an advertisement issued by the Dublin Corporation on the 10th instant. In that advertisement tenders, which may be submitted up to the 19th January next, are invited for the erection of 500 complete houses.

Will the Minister say if any tenders have yet been received?

Mr. Murphy

No. In fact the particulars to enable suppliers to tender probably only reached them within the last week.

What is the reason for the delay?

Mr. Murphy

I am not aware that there has been any delay.

The Minister has been talking about this for six months, and has done nothing about it.

That did not worry you.

It ought to worry you.
