Dáil Éireann debate -
Friday, 26 Nov 1948

Vol. 113 No. 5

Motion for Late Sitting.

I move:—

That the Dáil sit later than 2.30 p.m. and that the order for the adjournment be taken not later than 6 p.m.

It looks as if we are not likely to finish by 2 p.m. It was thought desirable to complete the Second Stage to-day, and for that reason we propose to sit later than usual.

Mr. Boland

Does that mean that it is proposed to finish the Second Reading debate to-day?

We desire to finish it if possible before 6 p.m.

Mr. Boland

If it is not finished, what happens?

The desire is to give ample time for debate and it is thought that we will be able to finish it by 6 p.m.

Mr. Boland

If it is not finished then will it go into next week?

It will, but it is hoped that it will be finished by 6 p.m.

I have said that the republic described in this Bill has been in existence for 11 years.

If the Deputy will pardon me for interrupting, I take it that there will be agreement that the Minister should be called upon to conclude not later than 5 p.m.?

Is that agreed?

Certainly.

The arrangement is that the Minister will be called upon to conclude not later than 5 p.m.
