Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of County Dublin Harbours.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (i) when he intends to sanction a grant for the improvement of Loughshinny and Rush harbours; (ii) when he received the plans dealing with the reconstruction and cleaning of the harbours, and (iii) what the cause of the delay is in carrying out the work.

(i) My functions in such cases are limited to recommending a contribution from State funds towards the cost of improvements, provided I am satisfied that the outlay involved would be justified in relation to the service to be rendered to local fishery interests; (ii) plans and estimates in respect of works proposed at the harbours named in the question were furnished to my Department by the Dublin County Council on the 8th September, 1948; (iii) I am awaiting technical advice on certain aspects of these proposals with a view to making an appropriate recommendation.
