Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inspection of Defence Establishments.

asked the Minister for Defence whether officers of the United States of America have recently inspected our defence establishments, airfields, and seaplane facilities; and, if so, whether he will state the purpose of the inspections and by what authority they were made.

The reply to this question is in the negative.

Where a military attaché is accredited, it is a matter of routine courtesy to afford him opportunities to visit military establishments. The United States Attaché accredited to this country, like any other attaché so accredited, accompanies officers of Army Headquarters Staff on such visits from time to time. The United States Attaché recently accompanied officers of Army Headquarters Staff on a visit to a number of military posts, but no significance whatever attaches to it. My authority is not necessary for routine visits of this nature.
