Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Building Plans.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of new dwellinghouses and flats the Corporation of Dublin have planned to build and make available for occupation by tenants during the year 1949.

Mr. Murphy

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his previous question of the 25th November in regard to the Dublin housing programme for the next ten years. It is intended to secure the maximum rate of output at the earliest possible date, but the actual output for any particular period is at present impossible to estimate.

Do I understand the Minister to say he cannot tell how many houses will be built in Dublin in the year 1949?

Mr. Murphy

The Deputy need not understand anything of the kind. The Deputy had last week—a few days ago in fact, speaking in terms of Parliamentary time—the fullest particulars that were available to me and to the House generally on this question. I am unable to add anything to the information I gave then at this particular juncture.

I must press the Minister to give me the reply to the question I have put down.

I cannot do anything in the matter.

Owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, with your permission, I will raise the matter on the adjournment this evening.

Mr. Murphy

I can only say I will have no more information on the adjournment than I have now.

The Chair will consider the matter.
