Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Howth and Sutton Building Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that there is much dissatisfaction in the Howth and Sutton areas at the delay in commencing the promised housing scheme, and whether he will state the number of houses it is proposed to build there and when they will be provided.

Mr. Murphy

I am not aware of the dissatisfaction or delay alleged by the Deputy. I informed him in May last that a housing scheme for the Howth-Sutton area was in course of formulation, and since then negotiations have been completed for the acquisition of a site and development plans have been prepared. The development of this site will be commenced in the immediate future. Arrangements are being made to use a further site in this area which forms part of the city estate. The two sites will together accommodate 112 houses.
