Vol. 113 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grievances of Taxi Owners and Drivers.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received a deputation of the Irish Taxi Owners and Drivers' Association, and if he will outline his proposals to remedy their many grievances.

I have received the deputation referred to. The representations made by the deputation are under consideration.

Mr. Byrne

In view of the traffic conditions in Dublin, will the Minister not consider the advisability of appointing a committee giving representation to the Gardaí, Córas Iompair Éireann, the motor unions and the taxi men, who may be able to provide some scheme that would give satisfaction? Most of them are anxious to help and I have seen some of their schemes and could recommend them.

As I have informed the Deputy, the representations made by the deputation are under consideration at the moment.
