Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Telephones in Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the total number of new telephones provided in (i) the Dublin area, and (ii) the remaining counties in the years 1938, 1947 and 1948, respectively.

The number of exchange lines provided in 1947 was 1,347 in the Dublin Automatic Exchange and 980 elsewhere. In 1948 it was 4,270 in Dublin and 2,730 in the remaining counties. It is regretted that detailed figures for 1938 are not now available but the total number provided in that year for the whole of the State was 2,595.
