Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Oats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what action is being taken by his Department to relieve those merchants recently authorised to purchase oats who find that their storage space is now overtaxed with this commodity and who as a result are prevented from engaging in further buying operations.

The problem referred to exists in only two or three areas of the country. In all the other areas, merchants registered under the Department's scheme have storage to deal with the quantity of oats being offered. For the areas where the problem exists, arrangements to deal with it are under active consideration and it is expected that it will be solved at an early date. If the Deputy has any special instance in mind I would be glad to know of it.
