Vol. 114 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turf-Cutting Conditions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will arrange for people who still wish to cut turf to do so on the conditions prevailing in 1947 and 1948.

The only change in the coming season of the conditions prevailing in the 1948 season is that the lands taken over by the State and local authorities for turf production have been handed back to the owners. I saw no necessity to make special arrangements this year for the provision of turbaries for people who wish to cut turf. They are free to make their own arrangements with the owners of the turbaries.
