Vol. 114 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Hospitals.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state when he intends to have the new hospitals at Letterkenny and Carndonagh built, in view of the fact that the old hospitals are wholly inadequate for the needs of the people.

The provision of a county hospital at Letterkenny and a district hospital of 32 beds at Carndonagh has been approved. The local authority's proposals for the appointment of architects have now been received and will be dealt with immediately.

It is not possible at this stage to state when the actual building of the new hospitals will commence, but I can assure the Deputy that every effort will be made to expedite the examination of the necessary plans and documents according as these are prepared and submitted to my Department.
