Vol. 114 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pension Clerks' Salaries.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to increase the salaries of clerks to old age pension committees, having regard to their present totally inadequate remuneration.

Revision of the salaries of clerks to old age pension committees does not require the introduction of legislation. In February, 1948, a decision to increase by 33? per cent., with retrospective effect to 1st April, 1947, the amount available for such salaries in each pension committee area was conveyed to the clerk of each old age pension committee and sub-committee. The question of a further adjustment is at present under review.
