Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Savings Deposits.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of Post Office savings deposits, less withdrawals, together with sales of Savings Certificates, less repayments, in each of the months of November, December, 1948, and January, 1949.

Excluding transactions of the Trustee Savings Banks, the net deposits made by the public in the Post Office Savings Bank were £326,503 in November, 1948; £182,030 in December, 1948; and £659,938 in January, 1949. The sales of Savings Certificates, less repayments, amounted to £5,849 in November, 1948; £29,613 in December, 1948; and £75,719 in January, 1949.
