Vol. 114 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blind Pensions.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether in view of the fact that a blind man under 70 years of age with a weekly income of 35/- is paid a blind pension of 17/6 per week, while a blind man over 70 with a weekly income of £1 1s. 0d. gets neither an old age pension nor a blind pension, he will take steps to have this remedied.

The provisions of the Old Age Pensions Acts governing the grant of pensions to blind persons do not distinguish between those under the age of 70 and those over that age. If the Deputy will give me particulars of any case which, in his view, has been wrongly dealt with I will have it investigated and, if necessary, rectified.
