Vol. 114 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Buildings Scheme.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the number of applications he received in 1948 for County Meath under the farm buildings scheme, and the number sanctioned by him.

The number of applications under the farm buildings scheme which have been received from rated occupiers of agricultural land in County Meath is 1,362. I have been unable for reasons which I have already explained to bring the scheme into general operation up to now but I hope to proceed fully with it next month. That part of the scheme which relates to grants for poultry-houses has, however, been in operation for some months past and 274 applicants in County Meath have been authorised to erect houses.
