Vol. 114 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cement Scarcity.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the scarcity of cement in County Monaghan; and, further, if he will take action forthwith to ensure a more equitable distribution of the commodity in this area.

I am aware that in some areas during recent weeks demand for cement has somewhat exceeded supplies. There is no control over the sale and distribution of cement, but cement merchants have been asked to distribute the supplies available as equitably as possible amongst the persons whose needs are most urgent.
