Vol. 114 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that part of the main road from Ballycastle to Belmullet is not steamrolled and is in very bad condition owing to the amount of turf transported over it during the emergency and to the bus service which operates over it at present; and, if so, whether he will give a grant for the steamrolling of the remaining part of this important road.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the main road from Mulranny to Bangor Erris, which is not steamrolled, is in very bad condition owing to the heavy turf traffic over it; and, if so, whether he will give a special grant for the steamrolling of this important road.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 51 and 52 together. A special improvement grant of £34,500 has been notified to Mayo County Council for work on main roads. In due course a selection will be made of the road works most urgently requiring attention.
