Vol. 114 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Earnings and Cost of Air Services.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total amount received by this country in foreign currency through all forms of air services, including air lines, aerodrome facilities, meteorological services, etc., distinguishing as between the several currencies; and further, if he will state the total payments made by this country in foreign currency in respect of the establishment and maintenance of Irish-owned air services, aerodromes and meteorological services.

The information required by the Deputy is not readily available and its preparation would involve considerable research both in my own and in another Department and necessitate the exclusive employment of staff for the purpose. In view of the present very heavy pressure of work in my Department arising out of dollar financing through the United States Economic Co-operation Administration it is not possible to detail the necessary staff at the present time.
