Vol. 114 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Income.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total national income for the latest year for which figures are available; the income of agriculture for the same period; and the average yearly income of persons classified as gainfully employed in agriculture.

The latest available official estimate of the national income, that for 1944, is published in the White Paper on National Income and Expenditure, 1938-1944. It has been very roughly estimated, however, that in 1947 the national income was £320,000,000. Agricultural income in that year is estimated at £100,000,000 and the average income per person gainfully occupied in agriculture at about £165.
