Vol. 114 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Review of Military Service Pensions Cases.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that considerable hardship is being inflicted on Old I.R.A. men as a result of the passing of the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1945, and if he will indicate if it is his intention to introduce proposals for amending legislation with a view to deleting Section 5 of that Act so that such cases may be reviewed.

I am not aware that considerable hardship has been inflicted on Old I.R.A. men as a result of the enactment of the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1945.

Steps are, however, being taken with a view to the repeal of the section of the Act mentioned by the Deputy.
