Vol. 114 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Easter Lamb.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that owing to the price of Easter lamb being fixed by his Department at the same level as mutton all the butchers throughout the country have refused to purchase lambs from the farming community; and, if so, whether, as the farmers in question are suffering grave financial loss, he will forthwith decontrol the price of lamb.

I have made an Order decontrolling the price of lamb for a period of two months ending on the 4th June, 1949. Announcements to this effect have been made on the radio and in the Press.
