Vol. 114 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Copyright Laws.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that grave loss is suffered by playwrights, authors and others due to the wholesale pirating and reproduction of their works without their permission; and that the rights of these people are most difficult to protect under the copyright laws as they now stand; and, if so, whether he will introduce proposals for legislation amending the law so as to provide further safeguards for the protection of authors and playwrights.

No representations have been made to me or to the Industrial and Commercial Property Registration Office that difficulties are experienced in protecting the rights of playwrights, authors and others under the existing copyright laws or that there is wholesale reproduction of the works of playwrights, authors and others without their permission.
