I am unable to state exactly the amount of additional revenue derived during the financial year 1948/49 from the increased postage rates which became effective on the 1st July, 1948. For the nine months ended 31st March, 1949, however, postage stamp sales and receipts from postage collected in cash are estimated to have been higher by £475,000 than the corresponding nine months ended 31st March, 1947. Portion of the increase was due to growth in traffic.
