Vol. 114 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meat Parcels for Great Britain.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the meat supply position is now sufficiently guaranteed to warrant a renewal of the facilities for the export of gift parcels to relatives and friends of Éire citizens who have found employment in Great Britain.

Experience has shown that there have been grave abuses in connection with the sending of parcels of meat to Great Britain. I do not, therefore, propose to alter the existing prohibition in this respect, because it is administratively impossible to prevent the recurrence of these abuses.
