asked the Minister for Finance (a) when it is proposed to publish further reports on national income and expenditure; (b) whether he will facilitate Budget discussion by publishing basic figures related to the national income for 1939-1940, 1943-1944 and a very approximate estimate of the national income for the most recent year in respect of which figures are available; (c) whether for purposes of debate the total national income for the years 1946-47, 1947-48 can be regarded as being not less than £310,000,000 or more than £360,000,000.

As regards (a) of the question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar inquiry by Deputy Larkin on 9th March last.
As regards (b) and (c), official estimates of national income for the years 1938 to 1944 were published in the White Paper issued in March, 1946, and, as I informed Deputy Cogan yesterday, the national income for 1947 has been very roughly estimated at £320,000,000.
