Vol. 115 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment of Non-Nationals.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any non-nationals have been employed on constructional work at present in progress for a firm of fertiliser manufacturers at Alexandra Basin, Dublin.

No permits under the Aliens Order, 1946, for the employment of aliens on the work referred to by the Deputy were granted or applied for. Permits are not required for the the employment of non-Irish nationals in the categories exempted from the provisions of the Aliens Order, 1946, and I have no information regarding the employment of any such non-Irish nationals who may be employed.

Have any representations been made by any trade unions in the matter?
