Vol. 115 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lorry Driver on Waterford Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the position of lorry driver in connection with the county council housing scheme in Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, was not advertised either in the local papers or at the employment exchange of the district and was filled by selection of an agricultural tractor driver who had no previous experience of lorry driving; and that there were two experienced lorry drivers with wives and families registered at the exchange; and, if so, whether he will explain the circumstances in which the inexperienced man was employed in preference to the men with considerable experience.

I am having inquiries made as to the method of recruitment employed in this case and if the Deputy repeats his question in a fortnight I hope to be in a position to let him have all available information on the matter.
